Hawaii produces only 2% of the world’s pineapple supply

Pineapple is what Hawaii is known for and back in the day, there were tons of pineapple plantations across the islands.

Today, there are only 2 commercial pineapple plantations left in Hawaii: Dole Plantation and Maui Gold Plantation.

That’s because it’s cheaper to produce pineapple in other countries. But, you can still buy Hawaii-grown pineapple all over Hawaii and it’s the only fresh produce you can bring back home to the Mainland from Hawaii.
